Shed Shelving: Loads and Layout
Shelving that holds up and a shed you can find things in.
1. Know the load
Bought shelving has a load rating per shelf. Don't exceed it, and spread the weight across the shelf.
2. Heavy low, light high
Heavy things go on the bottom shelves. It's safer to lift and keeps the unit stable.
3. Fix it
Fix tall shelving to the wall or frame so it can't tip, especially if kids are around.
4. Layout
- Keep the path in front of shelves clear.
- Group things by job: plumbing, fencing, electrical, garden.
- Label tubs and shelves.
5. Chemicals
Store fuels and chemicals as their labels say, away from heat and out of reach of children.
6. Quick summary
- Stay under the rating.
- Heavy low, fixed to the wall.
- Group and label.
